This via Wired.com. My goodness, and I thought I was becoming quite the savvy social media, geek guy – what with becoming a Twit (so to speak), getting more into this blogging thing, even Facebook (though I’ve kinda cooled off on that recently; ok thats a topic for another day). But, boy was I off base. Some strange folk are extending Twitter to their appliances! Yep, appliances. As in the toaster, the fridge, the washing machine etc etc. With a bit of gadget tinkering, the toaster will tweet when the toast is done or the diwhwasher when the dishes are done cleaning. Jumpin’ Jesus, that raises the bar! I can absolutely appreciate a good-old home DIY project. But, haha, this one has really tickled my funny bone. OK, I can see how that could have application for certain things (like when you really need to know when something happens with that appliance), but I find it hard to imagine that there isn’t a more immediate and direct way of acheiving that end. Nor can I imagine the Twitter community (or even just your followers) giving a toss about a “Toast is cooked, come and get it” tweet. Right? Right??? Please tell me I am right! But, why oh why am I drawn back to the page to have one more quick look. Just one more. Anyway, click the pic below for the wiki and the detailed instructions on how to do it.
